Five years ago, while attending the VIP breakfast of world renowned leadership guru Dr. John C. Maxwell during his annual Live2Lead conference at the John C. Maxwell Leadership Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. William Amponsah submitted a letter to Dr. Maxwell inviting him to consider the countries of Africa for transformation. Dr. Maxwell gave him a signed copy of his book, Intentional Living, and advised him to be intentional and persistent in pursuing this vision.
In August 2016, William provided a briefing about the Maxwell Country Transformation Initiative (CTI) to the Leadership Caucus of Parliament of Ghana, led by Hon. Alban K. Bagbin (Majority Leader) and Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Minority Leader). In March 2017, William visited Ghana again to meet with the newly elected leaders. Hon. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Majority Leader) wrote a letter of introduction for William to meet the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. AkosuaFrema Osei-Opare, to be connected with the President on potentially considering to invite Dr. John C. Maxwell to Ghana for discussions on how to interest him in helping undertake his brand of CTI in Ghana.
William met with President Nana Akufo-Addo in December 2018 and advised him to invite Dr. Maxwell to meet and discuss CTI in Ghana. His Excellency invited Dr. Maxwell to meet during his first visit to Ghana for a Leadership Conference organized by TGLI and funded by William. Dr. Maxwell accepted to meet him. At the meeting in Jubilee House on the evening of June 19, 2019, Dr. Maxwell accepted to undertake CTI in Ghana for free. The President informed Dr. Maxwell and our Team about his interest to revise the curriculum of High Schools in Ghana to include values training in inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders in Ghana.
